Someone has a good eye:

the way the boxes of tomatoes sit higher washed in blues

and grays.

The foreground a battlefield of red

Then

- October 6, 1951 Stalin announces that Russia has tested an atomic bomb -

This announcement arrives in the middle of this poem

as if the cabbages in the back row

are spilled onto the ground, and in Leningrad

people still remember the siege

and they run after the cabbages, carefully collecting them to place

back in their basket.
